From The Alliance Française de Chicago: There is a new French-Canadian restaurant in town, and it’s called Dear MargaretChef Ryan Brosseau will show us how to put together a hearty sugar shack inspired meal for the cold climate:

  • Pork Sausages with blueberry aigre-doux

  • Baked Navy Beans with maple syrup

  • Salad with pickled beets and walnuts

After the demonstration, we’ll host a live Q&A with Chef Brosseau and our Canadian friends from the Consulate General of Canada  and the Quebec Government Office in Chicago. Ask about Chicago’s new restaurant option, sugar shack culture, how maple syrup is a superfood … and how many languages are spoken in such a big country.

Order your meal kit for pick up at Dear Margaret (2965 N. Lincoln Ave., Chicago, IL 60657) on Saturday, March 20 or Sunday, March 21 between noon and 4:30 p.m.:

What is la Francophonie?

La Francophonie is a concept which was born of an understanding and appreciation of the fact that, owing to history, the French language is spoken by 300 million people across 5 continents. It is a celebration of linguistic and cultural diversity, promoting democracy, human rights and peace. The Organisation internationale de la Francophonie (OIF) is the entity which embodies the values of la Francophonie, seeking to promote the French language, francophone culture, as well as developing economic cooperations among its 88 member states and governments.

The Alliance Française de Chicago shares this mission; as a French-speaking organization, we seek to engage as many individuals as possible with the French language and cultures of francophone nations.
